  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Samaritan Health Services is looking for a certified Athletic Trainer to provide sports acute care coverage and injury management at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon. This position will act as outreach for Samaritan Athletic Medicine, a sports medicine facility that employs Orthopedic Surgeons, Primary Care Sports Medicine Physicians, Sports Residency Trained Physical Therapists and Sports Performance Specialists to provide a collaborative approach to athlete care.
    • Collaborates with other health care disciplines in order to provide quality direct/indirect care under the supervision and direction of a Sports Medicine Provider. Assists in facilitating and implementing all aspects of health care, including but not limited to prevention, practice/event coverage, injury evaluation, medical appointments, treatment, rehabilitation and team travel.
    • Clinic Athletic Trainer-Sports Team will:

      • Provide acute care and injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning for student-athletes at assigned High School or Community College. The Athletic Trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate provider referrals and maintaining communication and collaboration to provide student athletes with the best available care.
      • Provide and coordinate coverage for all home events and practices (coverage for away Varsity Football games is also required). Responsible for activating the Emergency Action Plan for sports/venues when needed.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • Our primary care sports medicine physicians specialize in preventing, diagnosing and treating injuries related to participation in sports and/or exercise, specifically the rotation or deformation of joints or muscles caused by engaging physical activities. We also offer a Concussion Care Program to provide diagnosis, treatment and safe return to play for athletes following concussions. The program provides expert, individualized care for athletes of all sports and ages.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • NATA certification required.
    • Two (2) years experience as an ATC required.
    • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

    • Medical Terminology - Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
    • Social Perceptiveness - Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a nonjudgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
