  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Oversees multiple functions that enhance Samaritan’s organizational culture of safety and that focus on the proactive management of strategic and emerging risks.  Works collaboratively with department leadership and third-party vendors to manage and coordinate the system’s risk financing and claims management efforts – inclusive of the captive insurance program, response to harm initiatives, commercial insurance portfolio, and broader Enterprise Risk Management efforts.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Enterprise Risk Services department manages a comprehensive ERM framework and tools used in making risk management decisions which maximize value protection and creation by managing risk and uncertainty and their connections to total value. The team works closely with risk process owners to collaboratively identify, measure, control, monitor and manage both known and potential risks.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, healthcare or relevant discipline required.
    • Three (3) years experience in a risk management, insurance, legal or claims management role required.
    • Experience in database management required.
    • Experience in Microsoft computer applications required.
    • One of the following required:
      • CPHRM within one (1) year of meeting the eligibility requirements for certification.
      • RIMS – CRMP within (1) year of meeting the eligibility requirements for certification.
    • Recent experience in healthcare preferred.

Skilled at performing group presentations, tactfully discussing issues, and listening to and understanding complex information/situations. Ability to facilitate communication with all levels within the organization.

    • Project or Program Coordination - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple fast-moving projects with changing priorities, drivers and dependencies. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of an integrated team to achieve a goal.
    • Adaptability/Flexibility - Ability to adjust focus and actions in response to changing organizational needs and priorities. Remains dynamic and able to adapt and respond quickly to situations that may arise with high associated risks.
