This is a dual-site position with the therapist spending approximately 40% of their time in Lincoln City and 60% of their time in Newport.  Both locations have new critical access hospitals—a 16-bed hospital in Lincoln City and a 25-bed hospital in Newport.  Both sites also have newly remodeled and well-equipped outpatient facility located on the campus of the respective hospital. The primary caseload is adults and older adults. Candidates must be able to conduct MBSs and must have already completed their CCCs. In 2024, we are moving to a salary model with a clinical ladder with the potential for additional compensation for professional achievement.   • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Responsible for providing safe and effective speech-language pathology and dysphagia services by implementing appropriate evaluation, treatment, and education designed to meet the identified communication and swallowing needs of the patient. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families/caregivers, and team members. Promotes teamwork.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Rehabilitation teams at Samaritan evaluate and treat patients with injuries or conditions that have caused either a decline in self-care, physical mobility or functional independence. Enjoy a dynamic and supportive therapy environment, professional camaraderie and 45 minute treatment times. The speech therapy teams at Samaritan evaluate and treat those experiencing difficulty with speech sounds, language, voice, swallowing, and cognition (memory, attention and problem solving). We provide care to adult patients with a wide variety of diagnoses in both the acute and outpatient settings.

  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • Current unencumbered Oregon Speech-Language Pathology license required.
    • Certificate of Clinical Compliance from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association, or active participant in Clinical Fellowship Year (CYF) required.
    • Must be able to travel to multiple points of care.
    • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

    • Therapy and Counseling - Possess the skills and knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and cognitive conditions. Ability to provide counseling and guidance.
    • Business Writing - Strong business writing skills, including the ability to professionally communicate clinical content in written documentation that is easily understood by the end user.
    • Communication - Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas.
    • Team Building - Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
