  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Provides strategic financial decision support to all levels of management. Responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating all aspects of the cost accounting system. Responsible for populating cost data, determining standard costs, generating cost accounting reports, establishing and documenting related policies and procedures, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and other Accounting duties as needed.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The SHS Accounting department manages and oversees Samaritan Health Services' finances to support the achievement of business goals and organizational objectives. We monitor all financial activities and internal controls to ensure regulatory compliance. We are responsible for producing an accurate, consistent, and timely monthly close and annual audit as well as the accounts payable and payroll functions.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; or equivalent experience required.
    • Five (5) years accounting or finance-related experience required. Experience in a healthcare financial setting preferred.
    • Experience and/or training in the use of accounting, financial and business software applications, including Excel, required. Experience with EPIC, Allscripts, EPSi, and Peoplesoft preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
    • Computer Literacy - Ability to use windows based computer systems. Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software, especially Office, Excel and Word. Ability to quickly enter data into spreadsheets, and manipulate data.
    • Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices. Ability to perform analysis and reporting of financial data.
    • Mathematics - Knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, and their applications.
    • Time Management - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
    • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of internal and external organizational stakeholders.
