JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
-
Responsible for the overall management of the Center with primary responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the educational, financial and personnel activities of Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center (OPAHEC). Leadership at Samaritan will supervise all aspects of OPAHEC, and the OPAHEC Advisory Board will provide guidance and program direction to the Director in keeping with the mission and goals of Oregon AHEC (State AHEC Program Office located at OHSU) and Samaritan Health Services (SHS). The Director is an employee of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital (SLCH), a campus of SHS and reports directly to a designated Administrator at SLCH. OPAHEC is hosted by and a department of SLCH.

Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center’s mission is to promote access to quality health care through community and educational partnerships. We focus on activities that help recruit and retain health professionals in the rural and underserved communities, prepare a diverse, culturally competent primary care workforce that can address the needs of the communities we serve, and support the development and maintenance of a health care workforce prepared to deliver high quality care in a transforming delivery system, with an emphasis on rural and underserved communities. Our programs include healthcare career exploration with high school students, supporting college students pursuing professional level education who are interested in healthcare careers, providing CME/CE opportunities to providers, and offering other programs and training as community needs are identified (i.e., training for rural first responders, Mental Health First Aid, CPR, etc.).

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
Master's Degree in healthcare, education or a related field required.
-
One (1) of the following required:
-
Five (5) years progressively responsible leadership experience including oversight of budget, personnel, public relations/information, and program evaluation.
-
A health profession degree plus three (3) years leadership experience in the planning and delivery of health care services, including experience in healthcare and workforce needs assessment.
-

Employee must have a valid Oregon driver license and auto liability/property damage insurance as required by law and must maintain their vehicle in good working order.
-
Experience or training in preparing management and program reports, grant/proposal writing and/or analytical papers required.
-
Experience in community development and the planning, delivering, and evaluating of educational programs for adults required.
-
Experience in working for or with non-profit corporations and policymaking Boards of Directors, including experience in fund raising and resource development, required.
-
Experience in the social, cultural, economic, demographic and health care characteristics of rural areas, preferably in Oregon, required.
-
Experience in computer applications required.

AHA BLS Instructor Certification and Mental Health First Aid (Adult and Youth) Instructor Certification required within six (6) months of hire.
