JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
-
Responsible for the installation, calibration, testing, inspection, inventory assessment, preventive maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment throughout assigned facilities. Trains clinical staff in use of existing and new biomedical equipment and maintains knowledge of trends and upgrades.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
-
Plant engineering oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
One (1) of the following required:
-
Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology and one (1) year BMET experience.
-
Associate's degree in Electronics and two (2) years BMET experience.
-
Military training in electronics or biomed equipment and one (1) year BMET experience.
-
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience to any of the options above.

Two (2) years experience and/or training as a Biomed Tech in a healthcare setting required.

PCH Plant Engineering:
-
Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS Vehicles application process required.

ICC certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
-
Ability to analyze, test, repair, calibrate, install and maintain electronic and electromechanical patient care devices and systems, including the associated use of test equipment, tools and diagnostic software. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems to component level.

Working knowledge of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and fluidic fundamentals along with medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology as applied to the use of biomedical equipment.

Ability to read and interpret various types of schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of devices and systems including color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.

Knowledge of the relative logic of cause and effect relationships, general engineering principles and problem solving processes including the ability to learn from others through comprehending and following both oral and written instructions.

Possess skills in operating computers and troubleshooting hardware and software problems, including a working knowledge of email, database, spreadsheet and word processing software and the ability to document and maintain accurate records.
