JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Participates in the fitting and delivery of prefabricated (off-the-shelf) orthotic devices and/or soft goods related to a patient's needs, as indicated by an orthotic practitioner or physician. Provides training and support to Orthotic Fitter I.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
-
The Samaritan Medical Supplies team assists people of all ages with their home medical supply needs. Services include respiratory therapy and oxygen, orthopedic bracing, post-injury or surgery mobility equipment, special attention to customer/patient needs and free local delivery.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
One (1) of the following required:
-
Two (2) years experience providing orthotic services.

Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA or CMA).
-
Current unencumbered Oregon LPN Licensure.
-
Current Orthotics Fitter certification.
-
Associate’s degree in an Exercise and Sports Science related field plus experience in providing orthotic services.

Two (2) years orthotic fitter experience required.
-
Experience or training in medical terminology required.
-
Healthcare Provider Level BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Experience fitting and delivering a variety of non-custom orthotic devices preferred.

Physical health assessment, personal training and/or health coaching experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
-
Confidentiality: Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Knowledge of orthotic devices. Ability to fit and deliver a variety of non-custom orthotic devices.

Knowledge of physical health assessment. Skilled in personal training and/or health coaching.

Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment, personal protective and safety equipment, multi-line phones, computer systems, point of sale systems and all other office equipment.

Knowledge of government and commercial insurance compliance/regulatory/billing requirements including local coverage determinations (LCDS), contracted providers, referral procedures, coding and billing information.

Medical Terminology - Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
