JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
-
Coordinates all aspects of workers' compensation programs for Samaritan Health Services (SHS). Organizes, administers and maintains these programs in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations. Works closely with Employee Health professionals to provide services and support to injured employees, as well as to ensure proper case management of open claims.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
-
Employee Health & Safety (EH&S) strives to protect and improve the health and safety of Samaritan Health Services’ workforce. Employees are evaluated in the EH&S department at new hire for hospital and state required health testing and immunizations. EH&S team members provide assistance and consultation to management in the areas of hazard assessment, ergonomics, accident investigation, return-to-work and fitness-for-duty services. EH&S team members play a key role on safety, injury prevention, infection prevention and wellness committees. We also assist Human Resources with determining the appropriate work adaptations for employees with ADAAA requests.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
Associate's Degree required. Experience may be accepted in lieu of Degree.

Advanced training in Workers' Compensation laws and regulations required.
-
Three (3) years Workers' Compensation experience in a position of similar responsibilities and/or complexities required.

Experience or training with Case Management, Employee Health & Safety principles required.
-
Experience or training with the Oregon State Workers' Compensation system, the Employer-at-Injury and Preferred Worker Programs and the Americans with Disabilities Act required.

Experience or training with MS Office, statistical analysis and database applications required.

Previous work experience in a healthcare or occupational health setting preferred.

Ability to perform group presentations and to communicate complex issues specific to workers’ compensation insurance regulations and procedures.

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work in sometimes dynamic fast-paced environment, and to work under pressure of deadlines and demands from customers.

Compliance - Ability to evaluate information to determine compliance with workers’ compensation laws, regulations, or standards. Use knowledge and judgment skills to determine whether events or processes comply. Responsible for the reporting and tracking work-related injuries and accidents according to state and federal laws.

Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Confidentiality - Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
